How to do I update to iOS 7?
There are two ways to upgrade the iOS version of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch – via connecting the device to iTunes on a computer, or directly from within the device.
Upgrade iOS from within iOS device (valid for iOS 5 and above)
Since iOS 5, it is possible to upgrade the iOS version without the need to connect the iOS device to a computer (over-the-air update). To upgrade to iOS 7, simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. The screenshot below demonstrates how to do so on an iPad, but this is also valid for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

You need to ensure that the iOS device is plugged in to a power source via the USB cable and that you are connected to the Internet. To avoid potential data costs, it is preferable to connect to a WiFi network and not use your 3G connection. Now let the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch connect to the Apple servers and tap “Download and Install”.

Once you see the update begin, stand-by until it completes.
Update to iOS 7 via iTunes
Another way to update to iOS 7 is via connecting the iOS device to iTunes on a computer. Note that once you upgrade to iOS 7, you will only be able to use iTunes 11.1 and above with the iDevice. iTunes 11.1 is already available as a BETA for Mac. We expect the final updated iTunes version to be out for both Windows and Mac up to a day before the public release of iOS 7 on September 18th. Before you continue, make sure your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch data is safely backed up.
Connect the iOS device to a computer via the USB cable and run iTunes on that computer. Once you see the device appear on iTunes, click on it and from the Summary tab click “Update”.

Finally, you will be given the choice to back up the device before upgrading to iOS 7. If you just made a backup, click “Don’t Back Up”. If you are not sure whether you made a backup of the device, read this section of the article: “Backup iOS data”.

iTunes will now begin the update process. Stand-by for the update to complete. If you are using a laptop computer, make certain that it is connected to the power socket.

Updating to iOS 7 is an easy procedure and can be done via iTunes or directly from within the iOS device.
