Galaxy S5, Note 4 Getting Android L Update By December

Android L will be arriving aboard the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy S5 just in time for Christmas

Samsung has always been pretty good with Android updates (excluding the international version of the Galaxy S3, that is), so it comes as no surprise that the company plans to have Android L (version 5.0) up and running on its Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 handsets just in time for Christmas.
“Both devices should get the Android L update by the end of November/early December – it’s not clear when Google will make the new version available for Nexus devices,” reports Sam Mobile, “but based on our info Samsung should be pretty quick at adapting it for its own devices.”
Android L –– in case you missed it –– is perhaps Google’s biggest OS update thus far, bringing with it a myriad of new features (support for 64-bit chipsets, ART runtime for apps, lockscreen notifications) as well as some very tasty design refinements, as per Google’s new Material Design ethos.
The Big G’s Nexus line of handsets and tablets will no doubt be first in line for Android L, with the upcoming Nexus 6 –– or Nexus X –– said to be the first device out the blocks to carry it. The Nexus X is believed to be launching inside Q4 and is said to have taken quite a bit of inspiration from the soon-to-be-released and thoroughly awesome Moto X 2014.
Beyond Samsung and Google, though, it’s unclear what plans other OEMs have in place for their devices. We’ve compiled a list of everything that is currently known about HTC, Sony, LG, Motorola and OnePlus’ Android L update plans, but nothing concrete is yet known about rollout schedules. Interestingly, HTC says it’ll be updating its One handsets as soon as Google makes the code available (guess there really is a first time for everything!)…
