iOS 7’s Revamped Notification Center
iOS 7’s Revamped Notification Center
iOS 7 manifests a transformation in appearance compared to any earlier version of Apple’s mobile operating system. The interface has a distinct flatter look and is radically changed with new icons and contemporary slender fonts. iOS 7’s Notification Center fully conforms this transformation trend.
What is Notification Center and how to access it?
Apple introduced the Notification Center in iOS 5 to improve the way in which iPhone delivers notifications. Notification Center is a unified place where alerts for new messages, calendar appointments and other app- and call notifications are aggregated and displayed in real time. To access the Notification Center touch the upper part of iPhone’s screen and swipe your finger downwards.

What’s new in iOS 7’s Notification Center?
The new Notification Center is streamlined and concise. There are three tabs: Today, All, and Missed and it can now be accessed from iPhone’s Lock Screen without the need to unlock your device first.
The Today tab is where the most important information for the current day appears. This includes calendar appointments, and the current weather per default but you can include a large array of other information such stock-market charts etc.

We were a bit disappointed that weather animation is not included in the Notification Center. Instead, you are informed of the current and forecasted weather by a short piece of text.

The All tab shows all possible notifications combined and arranged chronologically, while the Missed tab will only list items which you did not check such as missed phone or Skype calls, unread text messages, etc.

Notification Center settings: define what’s shown
To access Notification Center’s settings, navigate to Settings > Notification Center. From there, you can select what elements which appear under the Today view. You can also disable or set how Notification Center alerts you for each of your App’s notifications: via a banner or via a pop-up message.

Notification Center is an integral part of iOS 7 and is more useful than ever.
Trivia: Did you know that Android phones featured a similar drop down slide long before Apple introduced Notification Center in iOS
